VIVA x Whale Room Exhibition

The exhibition event 「Can You Hear? When Two Forms of Life Meet in a Confined Space: Belugas and Us」,co-hosted by VIVA and Whale Room, is an exhibition and public engagement project integrating art, public welfare and ecological reflection. Below is its core introduction:

Theme & Concept

Centered on the life narrative of beluga whales, the event explores the relationship between humans and animals in confined spaces, as well as the metaphors of power and listening through artistic expression. It aims to arouse public awareness of marine creature welfare, respect for life and natural symbiosis, highlighting that “listening” is not only a sense of hearing, but also empathy for the experiences of all lives.

Exhibition Content

Art Display: It showcases marine ecological photography, video installations and paintings created by artists including Yue Hongjun, Fred Buyle, Franco Banfi and Tan Xuan. The works present the living conditions of belugas in natural and captive environments. No live animals are exhibited; instead, artistic language is used to depict their compressed living radius and behavioral trajectories.

Interactive Installations: A VIVA Life Drawing Wall is set up, inviting the public to answer What is your life? with a drawing and record diverse life stories. There is also a Wish Wall for visitors to write down blessings and expectations for the ocean and all living beings.
